Recognition and Interpretation: The process of recognition is helpful in assigning a label to the object which is based on the information provided by its descriptors while on the other hand, interpretation can assign the meaning to the ensemble of recognized objects.

Segmentation: It is the generic name for multiple various techniques which is responsible for dividing the image into segments of its constituents. The ultimate goal of segmentation is to separate the information consist in the image into smaller entities which can be used for other purposes.

Representation and Description: They are responsible for transforming the raw data into from suitable for the recognition processing.
